INTRADE - International Trade Mobility for You

Aim

This project was born within the context of the sending organization development plans and internationalization strategy (with over 20 years of investment/activity in R&D and Innovation, Cooperation and Partnership national and international projects) as well as a result of the specific needs of the project direct beneficiaries.

The project involves 35 participants, trainees from an International Trade Technological Specialisation Qualification developed in CECOA. Trainees will have the opportunity 4 weeks work placement, in an international frame, in companies from a geographic, linguistic and cultural reference different from the Portuguese one and that are likely to work in international markets different from the national, thus contributing to the training and development of their professional, personal, intercultural and linguistic skills and competences.

This is a level 5 qualification (NQF/EQF) and gives trainees a professional profile of “International Trade Specialist Technician”. The project participants, who prepare this qualification, are professionals who will carry out their activities in an international context, relating themselves with customers, suppliers and service providers coming from different countries and cultural backgrounds. It is, clearly, a profile where multicultural relations management is fundamental to perform well.

Specific aims

  • To contribute to improve the participants professional competences, in the technical, relational and personal development fields, strengthen by the possibility offered by the project of exposing participants to different geographic, linguistic and cultural learning contexts and business practices and backgrounds;
  • To contribute to improve the participants’ language and intercultural skills and competences;
  • To contribute to improve the participants’ ability to integrate cultural diversity in the working and decision making processes;
  • To allow the increase of participants’ openness, tolerance and acceptance towards different business and cultural backgrounds;
  • To foster better participants’ professional integration and higher employability.

Participants’ selection criteria:

Prior information provided to potential participants: at the beginning of their training in CECOA, in the context of the training process.

At this early stage, trainees will be informed about the objectives and pedagogical aims of the project and also about how these objectives are connected with the pedagogical project of the training course “International Trade Specialised Technician”.

Participants’ general selection criteria: general level of performance/average marks; commitment with the training goals; motivation; level of participation.

Participants’ specific selection criteria: level of performance/marks in specific technical areas; level of performance/marks/knowledge in foreign languages (particularly English and Spanish); expertise in other languages (as French); motivation for learning other foreign languages; ICT skills.

The general selection criteria will be applied as serialization criteria. The specific selection criteria will be used to match the trainees’ individual profile to the different types of workplacement programmes available and to the hosting organisations / countries.

The results of the selection process will be communicated to trainees and, whenever necessary, they will be involved at the decision-making process.

Within the selection process, each potential participant will be asked to give their written agreement to their intention to participate in the mobility project, promoting participants individual accountability and the application of decision-making skills.
